The Duchess and I made an appearance on "Good Day Columbus" on Saturday, August 9, demonstrating a healthy, plant-based dish on a segment called "Couples Cooking."  So much fun, and I even taught the host how to zest a lemon! You can watch the complete video clip by clicking here.

Coming up: October is Vegetarian Awareness Month, and October 1 is World Vegetarian Day. Check out the North American Vegetarian Society's web site for more details by clicking here. Take the pledge to go vegetarian for a day, week, or month and you will be entered into their drawing for a cash prize! That would be a bonus to the improvement in your health and our environment that can be realized by cutting back on consumption of meat and dairy products even once a week. Check it out!

Yoga Mat to Placemat: Move Well, Eat Well, Be Well: The Duchess and I are excited to offer this special workshop to help you feel terrific all year long through movement and healthy eating. Start off with a great two-hour Fascia Release and Alignment class with registered yoga teacher Loretta Zedella (aka The Duchess of Fork), as we use foam rollers, small therapy balls, bolsters,and yoga postures to release tension from the body, revealing ease of body and peace of mind.  Then, learn how a healthy, plant-based diet is a wonderful complement to your yoga practice or any exercise routine with Chef Mark and a two-hour cooking demonstration and sampling! If you are curious about how to get started with a healthier diet or looking to expand your kitchen skills and repertoire, this class is for you! I will be taking a little time off from teaching cooking classes in September, so here is the schedule for fall classes and events:

Wednesday, October 1: I will be at Humana Health's Guidance Center on Henderson Rd. for a cooking demonstration on World Vegetarian Day! These hour-long classes are always well-attended and a lot of fun! Humana graciously makes these free and open to the public, and no advanced registration is needed. We start at 3:30PM sharp, so you will want to arrive a bit early to grab a seat and get ready for some tasty plant-based cooking. Email me by clicking here if you would like additional information. Tuesday, October 14: I am delighted to be back at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens for "Plant-Based Cooking for Health and Happiness." If your recipe box of plant-based dishes is limited to pasta, side dishes, or fake meat products, you will want to attend this class in which we'll discuss, demonstrate and sample some of the basics of planning and preparing a delicious meat and dairy free meal. Class time is 6:00PM to 8:00PM; cost is $35 or $30 for Conservatory members, and you can register in advance online by clicking here.

Saturday, November 8: Too early to start thinking about healthy food choices for the holidays? Not with The Duke of Fork! Join me as I return to the beautiful Dawes Arboretum in Newark, Ohio, for "Healthy Cooking for the Holidays." I'll show you some tasty alternatives to traditional holiday fare and include a cooking demonstration, recipes, tips on meal planning, samples, and an afternoon of fun! 1:00PM to 3:00PM, cost is $35 per person or $25 for Arboretum members, and you can register in advance by clicking here and clicking to the November calendar page. And, if you want to make a day of it with The Duke and Duchess, you can also register for Loretta Zedella's (aka The Duchess of Fork) tension release and yoga workshop that same day, from 10:30 to 12:30! Tuesday, November 18: "Healthy Meals for the Holidays" comes to the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. I am so excited for this- come out and join me as I prepare a meat and dairy free Thanksgiving meal that will include my special vegan pumpkin pie. Tastings and recipes will be included! Advanced registration is highly recommended as I expect this class to fill up quickly. Class time is 6:00PM to 8:00PM; cost is only $45 per person, or $40 for Conservatory members.
